If you would like to make a difference in the lives of people living with an Intellectual Disability in your local area by facilitating and promoting their independence through a Neighbourhood Links group, then this is an exciting opportunity for you.
The Facilitators role is to promote independence, provide links to the community, provide information and facilitate problem solving. You would be working with a group both individually and together to assist them to develop skills and confidence to successfully engage participants with their peers, neighbourhood and community. The facilitator must be able to respond to calls within a 24-hour time-frame according to participants needs. Phone contact and home visits weekly or as required. You would facilitate monthly group meetings within participant’s homes or within the community. Reporting and documentation would be required.
It is desirable to have a background in disability and all relevant clearances and current first aid are essential. Access to computer, internet and phone is essential.
