Supported Independent
Living (SIL)

We provide access to housing and support for people living with a disability to live as as independently as possible.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS funded support where you can live with other people or on your own.

Support is provided by qualified, skilled Staff for up to 24/7, who will be trained to support you with your individual requirements.

Dependent on your support requirements we will support you with your day-to-day tasks including:

    • cleaning and laundry
    • shopping
    • cooking and nutrition
    • personal care such as showering and dressing
    • going to appointments
    • taking medication and providing other appropriate health supports eg catheter care, bowel care
    • learning new activities/hobbies
    • maintaining contact with family and friends
    • positive behaviour support (where needed)
    • catching public transport.

SIL funding

Supported Independent Living is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with daily life in your NDIS plan.

You will be personally responsible for the cost of rent, transport, and other day-to-day expenses such as food, utilities, heavy cleaning or activities.

Your NDIS plan may cover some of these costs for transport, cleaning and gardening.

Household decisions?

You will be part of the everyday household routines and decision making.

HCO’s SIL services give you the opportunity to enjoy your local community and help run your own household.

SIL properties

You can choose from a wide range of comfortable and secure shared homes, or HCO can support you to find appropriate private or community housing.

Living in a safe environment, being part of your local community and having access to quality support can unlock new opportunities and build independence. We will work with you to find something that’s just right.

If you want to live with others, we’ll work really closely to learn about who you are and what you like, to match you with the right housemates.
