Home and
Living

We provide access to housing and support for people living with a disability to live as as independently as possible.

At HCO, we provide NDIS-funded Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) options, so you can live the way that works best for you – whether that’s with others or on your own.

We offer a wide range of comfortable, accessible, and secure shared homes, or we can help you find the right private or community housing to suit your needs. For eligible participants, SDA funding can cover specially designed or modified homes for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.

Living in a safe, supportive environment while being part of your local community can open new doors, build your independence, and improve your quality of life. We’ll work closely with you to find something that’s just right.

If you’d like to live with others, we’ll take the time to get to know your personality, interests, and lifestyle preferences so we can match you with the right housemates.

Our support

Our qualified, experienced support workers can provide support for up to 24/7, tailored to your individual needs, including:

  • Cleaning and laundry
  • Shopping and meal preparation
  • Cooking and nutrition
  • Personal care such as showering and dressing
  • Attending appointments
  • Taking medication and providing health supports (e.g. catheter care, bowel care)
  • Learning new skills, hobbies, or activities
  • Maintaining relationships with family and friends
  • Positive behaviour support (where needed)
  • Catching public transport

You’ll also be involved in everyday household routines and decision-making, so you can truly feel at home.

Funding information

  • Home and living funding
Supported Independent Living is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life in your NDIS plan.
You will be responsible for your personal expenses such as rent, transport, food, utilities, and non-SIL services. Your NDIS plan may also include funding for transport, cleaning, and gardening.
  • SDA funding
Specialist Disability Accommodation is funded separately in your NDIS plan. SDA covers the cost of the housing itself – designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs – while SIL covers the supports you receive within that housing. If you have SDA funding, we can help you find a purpose-built or modified home that’s safe, accessible, and suited to your lifestyle and support requirements.

Your home, your choice, your independence.
