Recreational programs
Activities that can help boost your health and well-being as well as make new friends.
Recreational groups that are fun and interesting are always in demand. HCO offers two separate recreational programs designed for adults living with a disability, the first program, Out and Abouters meet regularly on Friday evenings and then on Saturdays the Weekenders meet up for their activities.
The participants meet at Mount Barker and after enjoying their chosen outing, they are returned safely back to their homes.
Quarterly planning sessions are a major part of the experience. At these sessions, participants explore and research community events or interesting locations to visit. Activity suggestions are forwarded to the group for discussion. From there the activities are planned for in a friendly and educative environment.
Activities that are regularly enjoyed include attending local football matches, going fishing, kite flying, visiting museums, animal parks and zoos, playing mini golf and ten pin bowling, heading to the beach or local parks for walks, going out for coffees, lunches and dinners.
These programs enable the participants to develop friendships outside of their home environment, to promote awareness of the local community and to increase independence and enhance self-esteem in a safe and enjoyable framework.
The groups have been specifically created for adults living with a disability who are looking at increasing their community inclusion.
All activities and venues are located in and around the Adelaide Hills and Adelaide regions. HCO has safe and comfortable transportation options to take Clients to the activities and then return them safely to their homes.
We welcome your enquiries and hope to see you some time.
