Supported Independent Living

We provide access to housing and support for people living with a disability to live on their own or with others as independently as possible. Support is provided by qualified, skilled staff for up to 24/7, to help people achieve their individual goals.
Community
Access
More Info
Enjoy an excellent range of individual and group activities for adults living with disability. With a strong focus on the creative and performing arts, with choices from recreation, dance, music, woodwork, gardening, swimming and catering.
Talk to us about individual programs for adults, children and young people based on your goals.
In-home
Support
More Info
We offer personalised support to people living independently in the community. Some typical areas of support by qualified, skilled staff might include:
- Menu plan and meal preparation
- Managing household tasks
- Assisting with budgeting, shopping and with personal care.
Short-term Accommodation
More Info
People with disability who live with their families can enjoy short-term accommodation in a purpose-built home in Mt Barker, in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.
Guests can stay overnight or for longer periods based on your family’s needs and experience a home away from home environment.
We offer other break options too. Call us so we can help with your needs.

Coordination

Children and adults with an NDIS plan are can access our Support Coordinators, who are here to help you understand and implement plans. We can assist you to source community and funded supports, and works with you to contact providers, maintain the right supports on your NDIS journey.

2020 Christmas Party
This year we were treated to some Christmas performances at the Hahndorf Institute. Anne started the afternoon’s entertainment with a solo dance routine. This was followed by a performance by the Day Options Drama Group of a play written and directed by Joqui Fairley ‘The Story teller’
2020 Tri-State Games
Congratulations to all athletes that competed at the mini Tri-State Games. Well done to the Mt Barker Thunderbolts and the Centennial Court Lions. There were a lot of medals well-earned throughout the day.

HCO is offering free to you:
A community peer support group & facilitator.
A fun way to meet others in the community and make use of what your community can do for you.
Who can join?
People living with an intellectual disability or learning difficulties if you are living independently or want to achieve independence.
Come and meet new people and learn about fun and exciting things to do!

Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability
Terms of Reference for the Royal Commission
The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability was established on 4 April 2019 with the signing of the Letter Patent (which include the terms of reference) by the Governor-General.
The Royal Commission’s terms of reference cover what should be done to:
- Prevent, and better protect, people with disability from experiencing violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation
- Achieve best practice in reporting and investigating of, and responding to violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation
- Promote a more inclusive society that supports the independence of people with disability and their right to live free from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
The inquiry will cover all forms of violence against, and abuse, neglect and exploitation of, people with disability, in all settings and contexts.
